BIRD COLLECTIVE - PATCH - AMERICAN GOLDFINCH
Bright and chatty, the American Goldfinch enlivens meadows, weedy roadsides, forest edges, and bird feeders across the country. In summertime the males are a brilliant yellow and black, and in the winter, males and females turn a duller brown and gather at feeders. They eat seeds primarily from the daisy family, and nest in the late summer timed with the peak crop of these flowering plants.
